Diwali
Diwali is the biggest and famous Hindu festival, which is also known as the festival of lights. Diwali is celebrated after eighteen days of Dashera (Vijyadashmi) festival in an autumn month every year. This year Diwali will be celebrated on 7th November 2018. Diwali festival is the symbol of victory of good over bad (evil). It is a saying and faith that when Lord Ram reached home after killing demon Ravan people in Ayodhya celebrated this victory of Lord Ram with lights by enlightening lamps and deeps. People of Ayodhya celebrated the returning of Lord Ram to Ayodhya in form of a lights and lamps festival which is now a day known as Diwali so we called Diwali is the “Festival of Lights”.
Preparations of Diwali Celebration
Before one week of Diwali people got engaged in the shopping of Diwali. This one week is called Fest season. Markets and Shopping Malla are full of discounts and big offers. Some people buy property in this period. People start their Diwali celebration just a few days before. They cleaned and decorate their homes and offices. Some people make renovation and decoration their homes and workplaces. Just before one day of the main day of Diwali, Dhanteras is celebrated by purchasing gold or silver ornaments.
How Diwali Is Celebrated
On the day of Diwali People wear new clothes and decorate their home and offices with lamps, flowers and colourful rangoli designs and in the evening people worship goddess Lakshmi ji (Goddess of prosperity and money) and after Pooja people celebrate Diwali by distributing sweets and gift each other. On Diwali, temples are also decorated with flowers, light and lamps.
